BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Rebecca Courtois has won the 2021 Rebecca and Jean-Paul Valette American Association of Teachers of French Legacy Award.

This award is given to only one French teacher in the United States that has a highly successful French program.

Courtois has taught French for 19 years, beginning her career at Merritt Island High School, where she taught for three years, then moved to Melbourne High School, her alma mater, where she has taught French for the last 16 years.

The committee was impressed with the innovative efforts to strengthen and grow her program at Melbourne High School, saying Courtois also demonstrates the highest level of commitment to her program and profession.
