BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police officers responded to a crash involving three vehicles and a bicyclist Monday evening at about 7 p.m. in the area of Aurora Road and Croton Road that resulted in a 17-year-old juvenile being airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital due to life-threatening injuries.

The incident began when officers observed a westbound vehicle on Aurora Road when it failed to stop for a red traffic signal, which then continued straight through the intersection striking two vehicles traveling southbound on Croton Road, according to Melbourne Police Sergeant Daniel Desormier.

Sgt. Desormier said southbound traffic on Croton Road was then redirected as a result of the crash and one of the redirected vehicles struck a bicyclist crossing in the western crosswalk of Aurora Road, who was traveling northbound.

Police identified those involved in the incident as 27-year-old Bradford Bursey, 36-year-old Patricia Kelly,  17-year-old Wyatt Beam and 49-year-old bicyclist Nicolas Gonzalez-Grave. All are residents of Melbourne.

According to Sgt. Desormier, it appears alcohol/drugs were not a factor in this crash, which is still under investigation by the Melbourne Police Selective Traffic Enforcement Unit.
