BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department recognized U.S. Coast Guard Veteran Joe Lopez as the April’s VCOP Spotlight.

A U.S. Coast Guard veteran and New York City carpenter by trade, Joe was used to climbing high to build skyscrapers and going low to build subways.

But when an injury ended that career, he poured his energy into lots of volunteer work – ombudsman, chaplain, teacher, and VCOP – because he loves feeling part of something important.

This is especially true of his work on patrol for the police department. Joe enjoys meeting new people and getting to know different areas of the city.

He and his wife of 32 years moved to Palm Bay almost 2 years ago. Their family includes a daughter and 2 sons. In his spare time, he swims, walks, and studies the Bible.

“We thank Joe for his service to our country and continuing to serve our community,” said Palm Bay Police Department.

If you’d like to be part of something important by serving our police department like Joe, send an email to VCOP@palmbayflorida.org or call 321-953-8987.
