Sen. Rick Scott Slams NCAA Over Transgender Policy Threat as Florida Legislature Takes Up Transgender Sports Bill

Sen. Scott to the NCAA: Florida cannot be replaced, but you can be replaced
TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – The NCAA Board of Governors stated on Monday that it is considering pulling championships from states that ban transgender athletes from participating in women’s and girls’ sports.
The message was a clear response to the Florida House as it prepares to take up House Bill 1475, a bill that would ban transgender athletes from competing in a sport that isn’t against their own sex.
Sen. Rick Scott was not pleased with the NCAA’s threat on Tuesday, calling the threat ‘woke elitist psychobabble’.
“Thelikes to threaten Florida and other states. Well, here’s a threat to the NCAA – the American people are not going to allow biological males to compete in women’s sports. It’s not going to happen,” said Sen. Rick Scott.
“If you keep threatening the public with your woke elitist psychobabble, the NCAA will not last much longer. Florida cannot be replaced, but you can be replaced.”
The response by the former Florida governor and current U.S. Senator was in response to the statement the NCAA made on Monday, a clear message sent from the NCAA to the state of Florida, that it would not likely host their championships in Florida if the bill passes.
“When determining where championships are held, NCAA policy directs that only locations where hosts can commit to providing an environment that is safe, healthy and free of discrimination should be selected,” the statement reads.
“We will continue to closely monitor these situations to determine whether NCAA championships can be conducted in ways that are welcoming and respectful of all participants.”
