BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – When Breanna Sorensen graduated from Titusville High School in 2016 she had a plan: as a broadcast journalism major, she wanted to go to a university in a large market that would present her with opportunities to intern with different media outlets.

She accomplished this by attending the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where she interned at various TV news stations, was involved with the American Athletic Conference as a multi-media producer and reporter, and was part of UCF’s “Hitting the Field,” which is a sports show operated by students.

While in Orlando she also gained valuable experience while interning and working for ESPN, USSSA Pride, UCF Knightly News, WFTV Channel 9 and WKMG News 6.

Sorensen has had numerous opportunities since she graduated from UCF in 2019. She made her way to Annapolis, MD, and was the Navy Athletics multi-media producer and reporter, covering 33 sports provided by the Naval Academy.

Working closely with the cadets opened her eyes to a new world and Sorensen said it gave her a whole new respect for what the academy students go through.

“The passion they have with every single thing they do was inspiring,” said Sorensen. “While at Navy I had the opportunity to cover Navy football’s spectacular 11-2 season and also produce my own shows.”

She was the Navy football beat reporter on the weekly “Inside Military Pigskin” that aired on stations such as NBC Sports Washington, Fox College Sports Atlantic, NBC Sports Philadelphia, Eleven Network, Altitude Sports, Stadium Network, CW17 Jacksonville and CN100 Chicago.

Last October, Breanna Sorensen finished working for ESPN as a broadcast operations associate for the NBA Return in Orlando. “I had a blast in the Bubble and was able to work with some of the most talented directors, producers and crew every single day,” said Sorensen. All the NBA games were played in the “Bubble” in Orlando, which meant she was quarantined for almost four months.

“It was a challenging four months, but an honor to bring basketball to millions of homes during such challenging times,” said Sorensen.

She greatly appreciates the experience she had bonding with her co-workers, referees and players.

Sorensen has founded her own media company, Breanna Sorensen Multimedia, in which she owns her own equipment and produces content for everything from sports tournaments to non-profits  organizations.

She has a passion for her profession and drive to succeed – and is equally talented in front of the camera as she is behind the camera.
