Traffic Crash in Cocoa Beach Kills 26-Year-Old Motorcyclist, 59-Year-Old Man from Cocoa Beach

Cocoa Beach Police responded to the intersection of S. Orlando Avenue and South 2nd Street regarding a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a van that resulted in two people being killed Wednesday evening.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Police responded to the intersection of S. Orlando Avenue and South 2nd Street regarding a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a van that resulted in two people being killed Wednesday evening.

Based on the initial investigation, police say the motorcyclist has been identified as 26-year-old David Johnston from Cocoa Beach. Johnston was traveling southbound on S. Orlando Ave. around 10:30 p.m.when it collided with a van driven by William Lapierre, 59, of Cocoa Beach, who was traveling eastbound on S. 2nd St.

Both, Johnson and Lapierre, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are actively working to determine the cause of the crash.
