7 Popular Ways Canadians Like to Smoke Marijuana

By  //  May 16, 2021

When it comes to weed, Canadians are getting creative with how they’re going about smoking it. Long gone are the days of simply packing a bowl or rolling a joint.

There are now so many different ways to enjoy smoking cannabis, and weed lovers in Canada are trying all of them.

Keep reading to learn about all the most popular ways Canadians are smoking their weed in 2021.

Bongs

The “bong” may not be a new innovation for smoking marijuana, but it still remains to be one of the most popular smoking methods in Canada (and everywhere else, for that matter).

Bongs come in all shapes and sizes and can be made from just about anything. When looking at how a bong works, Healthline says that “at the end of the day, they all do basically the same thing: filter and cool the smoke that comes from the burning marijuana.”

The main benefit of using a bong is that it allows you to feel the effects of your marijuana in a matter of seconds. In other words, if you want to get really high really fast, a bong is the way to go. However, this also means that you should be extremely careful when using a bong, and if you’re new to the cannabis scene, it may not be the best choice for you.

Pipes

Using a wooden pipe is probably the classiest way to smoke marijuana. Not only will you look like Honest Abe as you light up, but packing loose weed into a pipe is extremely convenient and easy to do.

Vaporizers

Vaping weed is all the rage these days, and a big reason for that is that it’s considered the healthiest way to use marijuana. Originally, vape pens were introduced as an alternative to tobacco cigarettes, but they quickly entered the cannabis industry and have become a top choice for Canadians.

Vaporizers work by using two types of heating mechanisms to extract cannabinoids from plant matter. Through this heating process, the cannabinoids are turned to vapor and inhaled.

Bubblers

A bubbler is a mix between a bong and a glass pipe. Similar to a bong, a bubbler is constructed with a mouthpiece, stem, bowl, and water chamber. There’s usually a percolator that aerates the smoke, which also causes bubbling action that “bubblers” are famous for.

The main difference between a bong and a bubbler has to do with size. A bubbler is much smaller – small enough to fit in your pocket. The portable size makes it an excellent choice for smoking on the go, and it’s also much more discreet than a bong.

To use a bubbler, you’ll start by adding a small amount of water to the chamber. Then, pack the bowl, light it up, and inhale. As you inhale, remove your thumb from the hole on the side of the bowl and breathe in to clear the smoke from the chamber.

Dabbing

Dabbing is similar to vaping; it’s essentially a flash-vaporization process for delivering cannabis to the lungs. The starting material is butane hash oil (BHO), which is extremely potent and one of the most popular forms of concentrated cannabis on the market.

Many people hear the word “butane” and assume that dabbing is dangerous. However, dabbing is considered a healthier smoking alternative since the high heat involved creates vapor rather than smoke. That said, dabbing isn’t a great choice for beginners, so this one is only for cannabis connoisseurs.

Joints

Joints are a classic way to smoke, and there’s no doubt about the fact that rolling joints will never go out of style. That explains why cannabis sources like Dispensary Guide Canada are continuing to sell pre-rolled joints to their Canadian buyers.

Blunts

Just like joints, blunts will always remain a popular choice for smoking. Blunts are very similar to joints, but the main difference between the two is that blunts are rolled with cigar papers while joints are rolled with thinner cigarette (rolling) paper.

Since cigar papers are thicker and sturdier than standard rolling paper, blunts are better for holding larger volumes of marijuana. That makes them great for passing around in a larger group, especially since the thicker paper allows them to burn slower.
