Eastern Florida State College Sophomore Julieta Limardo Named Player of the Year in Region 8

Seven Eastern Florida State College Women's Soccer Players Receive Region 8 Honors

The Titans have qualified for the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament for the 10th straight season which will begin June 3

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Seven members of the Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team were honored by Region 8, including Sophomore Julieta Limardo, who was named the Player of the Year in Region 8.

Leading the Titans and the Region in goals with 11 in nine games this season, Limardo, a Miami, Florida native, heads into the national tournament with 20 in her career.

Sophomore Marcelle Thedinga was named the Goalkeeper of the Year in Region 8. The Culemborg, Netherlands native leads the nation in save percentage with a .944 and has recorded eight shutouts on the season.

Sophomore Marthe Taugbol is the Defender of the Year in Region 8, playing center back for the Titans this season.

The Kongsvinger, Norway native moved to the backline in the preseason and has excelled, helping the defense allow just one goal in Region 8 contests this season.

Defender Sofie Soerum was named to the Region 8 first team. The Baerum, Norway native was on the backline with Taugbol, helping the defense hold offenses in check this season.

Midfielder Kurumi Arakawa was named to the Region 8 first team. The Oyama, Tochigi, Japan native and transfer have been one of the catalysts for the Titans, playing both defense and offense in the middle of the field for the Titans.

Sophomore striker Paula Garrido was named to the Region 8 first team. Garrido has scored four goals and assisted on two others this season for the Titans.

The Asturias, Spain native has three game-winning goals for the unbeaten Titans.

Freshman Alba Alvarez was an honorable mention choice as the midfielder was a force on corner kicks, setting the team up to be successful on set pieces. The Gijon, Asturias, Spain native has three goals and two assists this season.

The Titans have qualified for the NJCAA Division I National Championship Tournament for the 10th straight season. The tournament will begin on June 3 in Evans, Georgia.
