Eastern Florida State Women’s Soccer Defeats Daytona State 5-0 to Win 10th Straight State Soccer Title

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s soccer team defeated Daytona State College Saturday night 5-0 to win the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Soccer title for the 10th straight season.

The Titans advance to the South Atlantic District Championship game on May 22 in Georgia.

The No. 3-ranked team in the NJCAA Division I poll got things started 13 minutes into the game on Saturday as a corner kick from Alba Alvarez found a breaking Cara Young who put it in the back of the net.

With 17:52 left in the first half, and Alvarez corner found Courtney Butlion who finished to make 2-0.

Eleven minutes later Kurumi Arakawa played a nice through ball to Young who put it past the Daytona State College goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

Alvarez made it 4-0 about midway through the second half with a nice shot and then with 13:18 left Marthe Taugbol’s penalty kick was tipped away by Daytona’s goalie but Julieta Limardo beat the defender to the reflection and buried a shot to make it 5-0.

Eastern Florida State College outshot Daytona State College 20-3 in the game.
