Melbourne Man Killed After Trying to Cross Interstate Following Crash, Sets Off 5-Car Pileup on I-95 in South Brevard

One person killed, two people injured

A 24-year-old man from Melbourne was killed late Wednesday when he attempted to cross I-95 towards the median the after being involved in a vehicle crash near mile marker 161 in south Brevard County.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A 24-year-old man from Melbourne was killed late Wednesday when he attempted to cross I-95 towards the median after being involved in a vehicle crash near mile marker 161 in south Brevard County.

According to the report by Florida Highway Patrol, a total of five vehicles were involved in the crash.

The 24-year-old Melbourne man was traveling northbound on I-95 when he collided with a vehicle driven by 45-year-old woman around 10:35 p.m. Wednesday night.

After the crash, he attempted to cross I-95, heading towards the median, when he was then struck by a third vehicle, driven by a 20-year-old man from Melbourne.

As a result of the crash, a 35-year-old man from Lauderhill driving a fourth vehicle involved in the crash, then collided into the disabled car from the first crash.

Finally, the crash involving the fourth vehicle then caused it to crash into a fifth vehicle, driven by 22-year-old woman from Melbourne.

Two people involved in the crash were not injured.

Another two people suffered minor injuries from the crash.
