BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – Team Brevard’s Bravest, otherwise known as Brevard County Fire Rescue, represented well at the St. Baldrick’s “Big Shave” event at the Avenue Viera today.

The Brevard County Fire Rescue team raised over $11,000, while the whole St. Baldrick’s event raised over $115,000.

Conquering kids cancer is what it’s all about, and the St.Baldrick’s Foundation is getting closer each year with the help of these head shaving events.

Even the Fire Chief and Operations Chief got into the spirit by shaving their mustaches along with the BCPFF Union President shaving his head for $1,200 in donations.

“Thank you to all that came out in support of all the shavees and the great cause,” said a BCFR spokesperson.

The Big Shave raises funds for St. Baldrick’s Foundation by encouraging people to raise money to have their heads shaved at the event.

These shavees collect essential funds for childhood cancer research while also spreading awareness and supporting kids who have lost their hair during treatment.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer and donor powered charity that funds pediatric cancer research. St. Baldrick’s is the top private funder of childhood cancer research grants in the United States.

They have awarded more than $282 million to support lifesaving cancer research. In 2019, the Foundation awarded Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando a $50,000 grant to use toward research and cancer care advancements.
