ORLANDO, FLORIDA – The UCF men’s basketball program announced another new addition on Friday, signing junior college All-American Tyem Freeman to the fold for the 2021-22 campaign.

“We’re excited to bring Tyem into the UCF Family,” head coach Johnny Dawkins said. “He’s a versatile player and a terrific athlete. He can make a difference at both ends of the floor and can make plays for himself and others. Tyem is going to be a great asset to our program.”

Freeman was named National Junior College Association of America first-team All-American as a freshman at Indian Hills Community College this past season.

The 6-foot-6 guard was the only freshman to earn the accolades, averaging 18.1 points per game and 7.3 rebounds per contest while shooting 52.2 percent from the field.

A native of Springfield, Missouri, Freeman led Indian Hills to a 21-3 record, a Region XI Championship, and a no. 6 overall ranking as a freshman. He will join the Knights as a sophomore, but technically have four years of eligibility due to the COVID-19 extra year.

He joins Ed’Xavior Rhodes, P.J. Edwards, and Darius Johnson in UCF’s 2021-22 recruiting class.
