2021 season starts Aug. 1, games held at Jefferson Middle School on Merritt Island

WATCH: It’s time to sign up your children for some football and cheer. Merritt Island Pop Warner & Cheer invites you to its first Spirit Night and fundraiser tonight at the Merritt Island Beef O’Bradys, located at 1450 North Courtney Parkway. Have dinner tonight at Beef’s here and tell your server that you are there with Merritt Island Pop Warner & Cheer and they will donate funds to the organization that will help support future Mustang football players and cheerleaders.

Merritt Island Pop Warner & Cheer is a non-profit organization that provides youth football, cheer & dance for participants ranging in age from 5 to 14 for football and 5 to 16 for cheerleading.

The organization is part of 14 associations located in Brevard, Volusia and Southern Flagler County. Brevard County teams include the North Brevard Hawks, Suntree Viera Hawks, Melbourne Ducks, Satellite Beach Seahawks, Palm Bay Rockets and Merritt Island Mustangs.

Pop Warner cheerleading was introduced in the 1970s and participate on the sidelines at football games for home and most away games through to the Pop Warner Super Bowl.

The Cheer and Dance Program offers teams a wide range of opportunity for young athletes at all skill levels: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.

Pop Warner continues to be the only youth football, cheer and dance organization that requires participants to maintain academic standards in order to participate.

Pop Warner includes more than 325,000 youths aged 5 to 16 years old and is the largest youth football organization in the United States.

The 2021 season starts on August 1 and all practices and home games are held at Jefferson Middle School on Merritt Island.
