BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Gillian Craig’s dad talked her into playing lacrosse when she was in the seventh grade, and at first, she wasn’t sure it was the sport for her. As it turns out, five years later, she was selected the Space Coast Daily–Friday Night Locker Room Breakfast of Champions Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year.
Craig, a senior at Merritt Island High School, had a stellar senior season as she scored 91 goals, fourth in the state of Florida, and number 15 in the nation. She also picked up 174 ground balls, which was first in the state of Florida.
Not only is Craig an outstanding athlete, but she is a well-rounded young lady and a terrific student as she recently accepted a four-year ROTC scholarship to Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, where she will also play lacrosse.
Craig is undecided as to exactly what she wants to do when she gets out of college, but she has narrowed it down to two impressive job possibilities and both involve serving in the military: She either wants to be a veterinarian or fly helicopters.
One thing is for sure, Craig is a leader who will make an outstanding military officer and is the type of person that when she sets her mind to do something, it will get done.
