BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Police arrested Justin C. Garvey, 49, of California, on Sunday after being escorted from a home on Bahama Blvd. by homeowners after attempting to burglarize the house.

Cocoa Beach Police received a call from a witness minutes earlier of a man checking vehicle door handles on an adjacent street and attempting to enter homes in that area.

Officer Nick Ingersoll arrived on-scene and observed Garvey being escorted from the home by the residents.

Garvey initially resisted Officer Ingersoll, but was taken to the ground and secured without further incident.

It was learned that Garvey allegedly entered through an open garage, helped himself to a beer from a refrigerator, and continued into the home when confronted by the occupants.

Garvey was charged with Burglary to an Occupied Dwelling; Theft; Resisting Arrest; and first transported to an area hospital for medical clearance due to his level of intoxication, then to the county jail.
