BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis player Tsveti Trifonova was named the Most Improved Sophomore by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Trifonova, who was named the Region IV Most Improved Sophomore last week, made it to the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Mesa, Arizona in May.

“She was our leader and took a lot of pressure off the coaching staff. Tsveti really worked extremely hard on the court and did the off-court training required to be a top college tennis player,” Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis coach Bobby Cashman said.

“It was an honor and privilege to work with such a great student-athlete with high expectations in the classroom and on the tennis court. Our coaching staff will really miss her work ethic and passion to compete for the Women’s Tennis program.”

The ITA honors a sophomore who showed the most improvement over the course of his/her collegiate career.

The sophomore from Sofia, Bulgaria was third in the Region VIII Tournament and was named to the ITA All-America Team.
