BREVARD COUNTY • MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – Edna Johnson, 95, of Merritt Island, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Cape Canaveral Hospital. She was born on December 30, 1925 in Branford , Florida and was the sixth child of nine children.

Edna spent her early years working for the local newspaper. She later married and was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, James William Morgan, her parents Charles and Mahalia McCollister, and her eight siblings.

She enjoyed shopping and could be found looking for a bargain. Edna was a stylish dresser and a true “fashionista.” She was a “people person” and had a wonderful personality, as evidenced by never meeting a stranger and having many friends. Edna had a deep faith and was a member of Frontenac Baptist Church.

Family was very important to her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Edna was deeply loved by her family, and will be missed greatly. Her passing has left a deep void in our hearts, but we take solace that she is with our Lord.

She is survived by her children Barbara Rierson, LaVerne Roxby, Mitchell Morgan (Mary) and Kenneth Morgan; grandchildren Kristen Oktar (Deniz), Melissa Morgan, Jessica Morgan, Kelley Allen (Marque), Ashley Sanchez (Ed), Jay Rierson (Carly), Donald Roxby (Tracey), Brandy Smith (Robert), and 16 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 21, at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 US-1, Cocoa, FL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Edna’s memory be made to the American Cancer Society.
