Marla Kaye Coon was a caring and loving mother and friend.  She left this world on June 9, 2021, at the age of 78 after a long battle with heart disease.  She passed peacefully in her home on a beautiful summer afternoon with her son, Chad, by her side.

Marla Kaye was born to Marlin and Anna Durbin on December 6, 1942, in Mansfield, Ohio.  As a child, she grew up in the “Hilltop” in Columbus, OH. After graduating from West High in Columbus, Marla Kaye married her high school sweetheart, Alan Coon. Together, they had two children: Eric and Chad.

After tragically losing her husband at a very young age, Marla Kaye moved her two sons to South Florida and worked for Westinghouse/Coral Ridge Properties in Coral Springs until she retired.  She loved her sons, Eric and Chad, more than life itself and she will always be “Our Mom”.

She loved South Florida and it will always be her home.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking walks on the beach, shopping, traveling, playing cards, telling stories, and just having fun.  Her smile could light up a room and she always brought warmth and happiness to everyone she knew.

She will always be loved and missed forever and ever.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 15 at the Boca Raton Cemetery (on the east side of the Cemetery) located at 451 SW. 4th Avenue, Boca Raton, Florida 33432.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association on her behalf.
