K9 Voodoo Was Retired Earlier this week
BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of Cocoa Beach Police retired K9, Voodoo. Earlier this week we retired Voodoo due to a terminal medical condition, and donated him to his handler, Sergeant Michael Mock, to live out his remaining days.
Sadly, K-9 Voodoo’s health continued to decline, so the difficult decision was made to have the staff at Island Animal Hospital on Cocoa Beach ease his suffering.
Our thoughts and prayers are with The Mock Family, as we share this heartbreak together.
I would like to personally express my gratitude to the team at Island Animal Hospital on Cocoa Beach for their exceptional (and donated) care over the years, as well as those in our community who helped provide funding for our K-9 unit, and BCSO for their assistance with the initial implementation and training of our K-9 team.
We thank Voodoo for more than five years of loyal service to the City of Cocoa Beach. He’s a good boy and will be sorely missed.
