Cocoa Man Arrested in Fatal Crash After Allegedly Speeding Through Red-Light, Killing Titusville Man

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – Titusville Police have made an arrest in connection to the January 20, 2021 traffic related death of a 48-year-old Titusville man occurring at the the intersection of South Washington Avenue (US-1) and Cheney Highway.

Ronnie Dale Huggins Jr., 33, of Cocoa, was arrested without incident on Friday, July 16, 2021, and charged with DUI Manslaughter and Reckless Driving Causing Serious Bodily Harm.

The initial investigation revealed that a gold 2006 Buick Lucerne, driven by Huggins, drove through a red-light southbound South Washington Avenue.

Huggins, subsequently hit Jonathan Edward Duff, 48, of Titusville, who was driving a silver 2001 Ford Mustang, as he was attempting a left turn northbound on South Washington Avenue from Cheney Highway.

Duff was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries later that evening.

Investigative evidence confirmed Huggins was impaired and driving at an excessive rate of speed.

Ronnie Dale Huggins Jr. was booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond.
