BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Amy O’Brien has resigned from her position as head coach of the Florida Tech volleyball program, Athletic Director Jamie Joss announced on Friday.

“I want to thank coach O’Brien for her dedicated service to Panther volleyball for the past 11 years,” said Joss.

“We appreciate the hard work she has contributed toward our program. We wish her the very best as she begins writing the next chapter of her life and career.”

O’Brien was named head coach in the summer of 2012 after previously serving as interim head coach in the spring of 2012 and assistant coach the previous two years.

During her nine years at the helm, O’Brien guided Florida Tech to 83 wins, including 27 in Sunshine State Conference play. Her 83 victories rank second in program history.

“I would like to thank Bill Jurgens and Pete Mazzone for giving me the opportunity to coach at such a prestigious University,” said O’Brien.

“I would also like to thank the rest of the athletic staff for their continued support over the past 11 years and wish the best of luck to Athletic Director Jamie Joss as he embarks on his new journey at Florida Tech. I am extremely grateful for having the chance to coach some of the finest student-athletes in the country and will miss seeing them every day. I wish them the best of luck this upcoming season and future seasons to come.
