BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department’s new academy recruits recently experienced the effects of pepper spray.

As part of the defensive tactics portion of the police academy, recruits are challenged to see how they react to pepper spray under stressful conditions so they are prepared for real-life situations once they are sworn police officers.
