BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department honored Luke Dummer as Officer of the Month for March and May.

Melbourne police officials said inn May, Officer Dummer conducted two high-profile investigations, each resulting in an arrest for violent felonies.

In March, Officer Dummer showed exceptional leadership, tactical ability, and investigative techniques on a shooting call.

“Officer Dummer was able to obtain the location of the firearm, and remove a violent offender and firearm from the streets,” said MPD officials.

The Melbourne Police Department is dedicated to the citizens of Melbourne and their quality of life.

Department personnel work closely with business partners, neighborhood watch groups, and community leaders in an effort to reach mutual goals and foster a strong, committed partnership.
