Lightning win their 3rd Stanley Cup in team history
TAMPA BAY, FLORIDA – Tampa Bay Lightning repeated as Stanley Cup Champs Wednesday night after defeating Montreal 1-0 in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final from Amalie Arena.
The lone game-winning goal came in the 13th minute of the second period when Ross Colton connected on an assist from David Savard and Ryan McDonagh.
Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was masterful tonight with 22 saves to lead Tampa Bay to their third Stanley Cup in the team’s history.
The Lightning’s win Wednesday night improved their record to 15-0 immediately following a loss over the past two postseasons, which is the longest streak in NHL history.
