11-Year-Old Child Hospitalized in Accidental Shooting in Unincorporated Cocoa

Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Kennedy Circle in unincorporated Cocoa about person being shot on Sunday.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Kennedy Circle in unincorporated Cocoa about person being shot on Sunday.

When deputies arrived, they found an 11-year-old boy with an apparent gunshot wound.

The child was alert and has been transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Preliminary information leads investigators to believe this is an accidental shooting that occurred when two children located a firearm at the residence.

During the handling of the firearm, it discharged and injured one of the children.

The investigation into this incident is still in early stages with a detailed examination being conducted at the residence by the Crime Scene Unit and interviews being conducted by agents from the Homicide Unit.
