BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Brevard Youth Chorus will hold auditions for singers in grades 4-10 on Saturday, August 21 from 9 a.m. until 12 noon at Central Baptist Church in Melbourne.
Membership in the non-profit chorus is open to students in public, private, charter, and home-schools. Both boys and girls are encouraged to audition, with Thursday rehearsals beginning after Labor Day, health advisories permitting.
The duo is creating a slate of safety protocols with the intent of a return to in-person rehearsals, after a season of online participation by the young singers.
“We are going to see what happens, but so far, we are planning to once more get together on Thursday evenings to make music,” said Ms. Hagans.
“The kids have missed the experience and so have we,” she said, adding, “our goal is to ensure rehearsals are meaningful, safe, and fun.”
The select group of youngsters performs at venues and events throughout Brevard. Performances in recent years have included the Family Concert with the Brevard Symphony Orchestra at the King Center, holiday concerts with the Indialantic Chamber Singers, and more.
