Cocoa Beach Karate Holds Free Self-Defense Seminar for Brevard Kids, Teens and Adults

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach Karate held another assault prevention and self-defense free seminar for Space Coast kids, teens and adults at Cocoa Beach Health & Fitness on August 11.

The seminar was attended by about 35 participants and included the Cocoa Beach Police Department and Cocoa Beach City Councilwoman Karalyn Woulas.

Lt. Manny Hernandez and Sgt. Tom Copper of the Cocoa Beach Police Department provided information and answered questions and councilwoman Woulas was there to support the event and participate.

Participants were provided with information on assault prevention and taught some basic self-defense techniques and strategies.

“It was gratifying to see moms and daughters participating together and practicing punches and kicks together,” said Sensei Des Chaskelson of Cocoa Beach Karate.

“It is important that they are made aware of how to conduct themselves and what to do if they are in a dangerous situation.”
