BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Hundreds of Florida Tech students crossed the stage at the Charles and Ruth Clemente Center Saturday as Florida Tech held its summer commencement.

This was the university’s first in-person commencement since December 2019, though from remarks delivered by President Dwayne McCay to the required masks worn by all to the decision to eliminate handshakes for graduates as they crossed the stage, the ongoing pandemic, and related safety efforts were on prominent display.

The university conferred 702 degrees Saturday, with hundreds of students participating in the 9:30 a.m. ceremony.

Graduates included 216 students from Florida Tech Online and 85 from the university’s education centers.

The graduating class featured students from 35 countries and 37 U.S. states.
