Melbourne Orlando International Airport’s Robert Himler Honored as Communicator of the Year

Space Coast FPRA Presents Annual Award

The Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association honored Melbourne Orlando International Airport and Manager of Marketing & Communications Robert Himler, above, as Communicator of the Year. (MLB image)

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association honored Melbourne Orlando International Airport and Manager of Marketing & Communications Robert Himler as Communicator of the Year.

This award goes to an individual or organization in the Space Coast community that has done outstanding Public Relations work over the past year.

“So incredibly honored to be a part of Team MLB,” said Himler. “I’m so fortunate to love what I do and have the opportunity to share our airport and community’s incredible stories each and every day.”

Himler graduated from Florida Tech, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management and a Master’s degree in Airport Development and Management.

After a stint with the airport as a marketing intern while attending Florida Tech, Himler was hired as an Airport Project Specialist/Marketing in 2015, was promoted to Airport Communications Coordinator in 2017 and then Manager of Marketing & Communications in 2019.

Himler also shines in working with the airport’s other disciplines, including operations, capital improvements and security, as well as collaboration with with airlines and tenants, passengers and the media and community.

In announcing the award, a Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association spokesperson said, “Congrats to the Orlando Melbourne International Airport for their efforts during COVID and all the airport’s successful PR programs last year.”

Orlando Melbourne International Airport serves the Central Florida coast with three runways, a 200,000 square-foot terminal and 40,000 square-foot customs facility.

It serves nearly 500,000 passengers annually with current nonstop service to Washington, D.C. (DCA), Philadelphia (PHL) and Charlotte (CLT) on American Airlines, and Atlanta (ATL) on Delta Air Lines. MLB is a leading aviation and aerospace center, home to Northrop Grumman, L3Harris, Embraer Executive Jets, Collins Aerospace, Thales and more.

Additionally, Allegiant recently announced nonstop service from Melbourne Orlando International Airport to three new destinations, including Pittsburgh, Nashville, and Concord, N.C. beginning in November.

For more than 30 years, the Space Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association has been promoting and developing the public relations profession.

Its membership is one of the most diverse in the state with multiple levels of experience and differing areas of expertise. From non-profits to high tech companies, the Space Coast Chapter offers a wide array of professional networking opportunities, professional development programs and community service projects.
