Latest data from the National Hurricane Center shows there is a disturbance a few hundred miles off the Cabo Verde Islands that is showing early signs of a potential tropical depression by early next week.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Latest data from the National Hurricane Center shows there is a disturbance a few hundred miles off the Cabo Verde Islands that is showing early signs of a potential tropical depression by early next week.

The tropical wave currently has disorganized cloudiness and showers in a broad area of low pressure, which could be conducive for gradual development over the next several days.

National Hurricane Center is forecasting a 60-percent chance of the system developing into a tropical depression in the next five days.

While the 2021 Hurricane Season has not seen much action up to this point, experts want to remind citizens that Florida and the coastal states are entering a phase of the hurricane season that residents and guests need to be aware of the activity in the Atlantic as we enter the height of hurricane season over the next few weeks.

Hurricane began on June 1 and runs through November 30.
