Broadway comes to life in the heart of Historic Cocoa Village. And what a history this playhouse has. In August 1924, the Aladdin Theater opened its doors to the public, showing silent movies. It evolved with the times as Brevard County’s first “talkie” movie house, known as “the showplace of the Indian River Section.”

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida’s Space Coast is home to six theaters that showcase performing arts.

 Historic Titusville Playhouse – Titusville

Located in Downtown Titusville, just a short walk from the Titusville Welcome Center, the Historic Titusville Playhouse delights audiences with modern, classical, and musical performances. This building was originally built in 1905 as a Saloon and Hotel. In 1910, it began entertaining guests with silent films and vaudeville shows. Rumor has it, the theatre is haunted! Today the Titusville Playhouse has a full lineup of performances.

Surfside Playhouse – Cocoa Beach

Surfside Playhouse is a hub of creative activity here on the Space Coast. Hosting the Surfside Youth Players, an annual playwriting contest, the Playwrights Workshop of Brevard, and the Fearless Improv Brigade, there are always incredible works coming from this small playhouse.

Here you’ll see everything from Jazz Festivals, Barber Shop Quartets, historic and modern surfing movies, celebrity auctions, and yard sales as fundraisers. It’s a unique spot to stop to get yourself some Space Coast Culture.

The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse- Cocoa Village

Broadway comes to life in the heart of Historic Cocoa Village. And what a history this playhouse has. In August 1924, the Aladdin Theater opened its doors to the public, showing silent movies. It evolved with the times as Brevard County’s first “talkie” movie house, known as “the showplace of the Indian River Section.”

Eventually, the Aladdin Theater was purchased by City of Cocoa and renamed The Cocoa Village Playhouse. In 1991, Playhouse was accepted onto the National Register of Historic Places. Known best for their Broadway on Brevard series, other programming includes the showing of classic movies in the Aladdin Film Series, and short-run productions called the Spotlight Series.

Melbourne Civic Theatre – Melbourne

Melbourne Civic Theater

The Melbourne Civic Theater has been a local stage since 1951 putting on a variety of classic & new plays in an intimate setting. Originally known as The Indian River Players, this group was established in 1951 and is Brevard County’s longest-running arts organization. The group changed its name to Melbourne Civic Theatre in 1988 and has continued its legacy of entertainment and culture ever since.

Henegar Center for the Arts – Melbourne

Henegar Center

Centrally located in Downtown Melbourne, the Henegar Center is a Center for Arts. this means some incredible, uncanny shows, performances, troupes, and performers are always revolving in the oldest surviving public building in Brevard County. Built in 1919 as the Melbourne School Complex, the building was saved by the Melbourne Civic Theater and Broadway scenic designer who renovated the theater and stage. Today you can enjoy uniquely Space Coast Productions and other events in this performing arts center.

Maxwell C. King Center for the Performing Arts – Melbourne

The King Center is a direct support organization of Eastern Florida State College. There are a number of performance venues available, from a 2,016 seat main theatre to an intimate 288-seat studio theatre and VIP room. This is the place to go for performances from Classic Albums Live, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra, Space Coast Ballet, national touring productions through Broadway At The King Center, and famous touring musicians and comedy acts like ZZ Top, Mannheim Steamroller, Alton Brown, and Rick Springfield.
