Tropical Storm Grace Forms in Atlantic, Tropical Storm Warnings Issued for US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico

Grace carrying 40 mph max sustained winds

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Tropical Storm Grace has formed in the Atlantic, located about 355 miles east of the Leeward Islands.

The latest data from the National Hurricane Center shows Grace moving to the west at 22 mph and carrying 40 mph max sustained winds.

As of Saturday morning, Florida is expected to feel the impact from Grace on Thursday morning when it makes landfall on South Florida by Thursday late afternoon.

Grace is not projected to become a hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center.

If the current path of Tropical Storm Grace stays on the projected course, Brevard County would be impacted on Friday.

On Saturday, Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued for the following:
* Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Montserrat
* Saba and Sint Eustatius
* Sint Maarten
* St. Martin and St. Barthelemy
* British Virgin Islands
* U.S. Virgin Islands
* Puerto Rico, including Vieques and Culebra

A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions are expected somewhere within the warning area within 36 hours.

The center of the storm is forecast to move over the Leeward Islands tonight, over the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Sunday, and then over the Dominican Republic on Monday.
