Unveiling of Mural Memorializing the Life and Legacy of Rosa L. Jones Set for Saturday in Cocoa

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Join the City of Cocoa and the family of Rosa L. Jones as they unveil the mural installation memorializing the life and legacy of civil rights activist, educator, reporter, and beloved Cocoa resident.
Members of the family and Cocoa City Council will unveil the installation featuring the life and legacy of Jones. The unveiling will take place at Rosa L. Jones Traffic Circle at 10 a.m. Parking is available at First Baptist Church of Cocoa.
The family of Jones worked with a local builder and artist to create the mural installation at the traffic circle in the intersection of John Garren and Rosa L Jones Boulevard. in Cocoa Village.
The family raised more than $10,000 to complete this project which was approved by Cocoa City Council in June to be placed at the traffic circle.
Jones was a writer for the first black newspaper in Cocoa, radio broadcaster, philanthropist, preschool owner and community activist who was a part of the civil rights movement along with Harry T. Moore.
A number of Rosa L. Jones’ family members will be in attendance for the unveiling ceremony and the public is invited and welcome to attend.
