Eastern Florida State College Men’s Tennis Team Ready for ITA Cup Regional Tournament

TIFTON, GEORGIA – The Eastern Florida State College men’s tennis team will compete in the ITA Men’s JUCO Cup regionals in Tifton, Georgia this weekend.
The Titans are coming off a solid performance at the Embry Riddle Open and will now compete in one of six regional championships across the nation for a berth into the ITA Cup tournament which will be held in Rome, Georgia Oct. 14-17.
The champions in both singles and doubles in the regionals this weekend will get an automatic bid with the runner-ups eligible for an at-large selection.
Lucas Gonzalez comes into the regional tournament as the No. 3 seed and has a bye in the first round. His first match will be against Alex Rainer of Wallace State at 2 p.m. on Friday.
Jaewoo Choi will open the tournament against Muntingh Hamman at 1 p.m. on Friday while teammate Corentin Venot will also open at 1 p.m. against Massimo Caliendo.
Lluc Pasqual Camps also has a bye in the first round and will play at 3:30 p.m. Friday.
In doubles, the team of Gonzalez and Santino Morel Reider are the No. 2 seed and have a bye in the first round. The team will open the tournament Saturday at 9 a.m.
The duo of Camps and Choi are the No. 5 seed and have a bye in the first round. They will open the tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday.
In 2019 more than 8,000 players took part in a total of 60 regional tournaments between NCAA Division II, Division III, NAIA, and Junior College players.
