The repairs are estimated to take 110 days thru mid-December.

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – All marine interests using the Canaveral Lock and Port Canaveral should be advised that the Florida Department of Transportation will be using contractor Engineer Control Systems (ECS) to replace the worn fendering system protecting the State Rd 401 Drawbridge piers in the Canaveral Barge canal just east of the Canaveral Lock.

Work is slated to begin Tuesday, September 7.

The repairs are estimated to take 110 days thru mid-December.

During the repairs, the channel navigation width thru the drawbridge will be reduced by 50% for regular recreational boat traffic.

The contractor ECS, requests at least 24-hour notice for commercial barge, tug or supply vessel or other large commercial vessels so as to more easily accommodate the movement of commercial traffic.

Operation of the drawbridge will not be affected – nor will vehicular traffic on the bridge.

The repairs will not affect regular operations at Canaveral Lock.
