BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – After an undefeated opening weekend, Florida Tech women’s soccer has skyrocketed from unranked to No. 4 in the nation in the season’s first United Soccer Coaches Top 25 ranking.

This is the first time the Panthers have been ranked in the national poll since earning the No. 14 ranking on Sept. 13, 2016.

This is also the program’s highest ranking since sitting at No. 1 during the 2011 campaign, the season following its trip to the Final Four.

The Panthers are now turning heads after they were voted to finish ninth in the Sunshine State Conference at the start of the 2021 season. Head coach Ryan Moon has rapidly elevated the team’s play during his first year at the helm.

Tech picked up a pair of road wins in impressive fashion during the opening weekend of the season, knocking off Auburn Montgomery 4-1 and then taking down 2019 Gulf South Conference Champion, Montevallo, by a score of 1-0.

Mariana Mazzocca and Maria Sanchez Recuero each earned SSC Player of the Weeks for their performances during the first two games of the season, helping Florida Tech to its first 2-0 start since the 2016 campaign. (Florida Tech image)
