TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA – The Florida Municipal Attorneys Association recognized the late Palm Bay City Attorney Nick Tsamoutales with the 2020 Claude L. Mullis Lifetime Distinguished Service Award in recognition of a lifetime of significant achievements and distinguished service in municipal law.
Tsamoutales passed away in February 2021.
Recipients of this prestigious award are retired municipal attorneys who throughout their career have demonstrated integrity and honesty, achieved significant success, and reflected the basic values of those who have excelled in the practice of municipal law.
Since its inaugural year in 1999, this award has only been presented to 11 other municipal attorneys in Florida.
“Nick was the embodiment of what this award aims to recognize,” said FMAA President Jay Daigneault.
“His service and contributions to this association, the practice of municipal law, and to cities throughout the state cannot be overstated. On behalf of the FMAA and its members, we’re saddened by the fact that we were unable to present this award to Nick before his passing, but we’re truly grateful for his decades of service and his many achievements, and we’re proud to recognize him with this award.”
Tsamoutales was a member of the Florida Bar for more than 50 years and practiced municipal law for more than four decades.
During that time, he represented several local governments in Florida, including the City of Palm Bay, for which he served as City Attorney for more than 30 years.
He is a Past President of FMAA as well as a past recipient of the FMAA’s Paul S. Buchman Attorney of the Year Award, which was only one of many awards on his long list of accolades and achievements.
