BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The City of Melbourne will be hosting an International Coastal Cleanup event at Ballard Park located at 924 Thomas Barbour Drive on September 18, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Breakfast and water will be provided. Please wear proper outdoor clothing and bring a reusable water bottle and gloves.

The city is hosting this event in partnership with Keep Brevard Beautiful and the Ocean Conservancy.

The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastline.

By providing detailed, standardized data on paper data cards, or electronically through the Clean Swell app, volunteers gather valuable information about the types and sources of debris found.

New this year is the #152andYou challenge based on a Keep America Beautiful study that if everyone made the individual action of picking up 152 pieces of litter (all at once), there would be no litter on the ground unless someone littered again.
