Members of the Melbourne Police Department executed Operation C.A.R.E., a Labor Day weekend detail that focused on traffic violations. BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Members of the Melbourne Police Department executed Operation C.A.R.E., a Labor Day weekend detail that focused on traffic violations.

Melbourne police officials said that violations included impaired/distracted driving, aggressive driving, safety belt protection, speeding and pedestrian/bicycle safety.

The operation resulted in 130 warnings, 71 citations and 31 arrests.

“This high visibility campaign effort was to educate drivers and increase safety on the roadways in the City of Melbourne,” said police officials.
