BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Police Department has recognized Sandra Files as August’s VCOP Spotlight.

When Files saw the Palm Bay Police Department’s Citizen’s Patrol car monitoring her neighborhood, she decided to find out more about the VCOP program.

What she discovered was a way to give back by supporting our local police force and joined the group last year.

During her time with the VCOPs, Files has worked patrol and the front desk. She loves the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities of her fellow VCOPs and the members of the police department. In addition, she is drawn to aiding whoever comes in the front door.

Her position at both Fountainhead Funeral Home and the VCOP organization gives her ample opportunities to make things easier for people who find themselves in difficult situations.

An Iowa native, she, her husband, and their dog have called Florida home for 5 years.

Before retiring to Palm Bay, she spent more than 40 years working as a general manager, opening new retail establishments around the country for companies like Target and Sam’s Club. In her spare time she enjoys being outside, gardening, spending time with an old friend and clogging.

If you would like to become a VCOP, send an email to VCOP@palmbayflorida.org or call 321-953-8987.
