BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care is proud to announce it has been renewed as a Level Five Partner with We Honor Veterans, a program of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

The Level Five recognition demonstrates a high level of commitment to Veteran-centric care in the community. St. Francis achieved the prestigious distinction in 2020, and is currently the only Level Five Partner in Brevard County. Level Five is the highest level in the We Honor Veterans program and is the only level that requires annual renewal. All other levels are for life.

“Brevard County has a high concentration of active and retired military members, and it is not only thoughtful but critical they have access to resources that understand their unique needs and culture,” said Joe Killian, President and CEO of St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care.

“We are grateful to give back to our community with highly trained staff who go beyond their medical training to ensure they provide culturally intuitive care to our veterans and their families.”

As a partner, St. Francis is providing specialized care to veterans who are facing serious illnesses. This includes a veteran-to-veteran volunteer program, training on conflict-specific medical and mental health concerns, and knowledge to assist veterans in navigating VA benefits.

In addition to being a top partner, St. Francis is also a certified We Honor Veterans Level Five Regional Mentor for other hospice and community partners looking to start their own We Honor Veterans program and achieve the highest level.

NHPCO and the Department of Veterans Affairs launched We Honor Veterans in 2010 to address the growing need for veteran-centered care, especially as veterans from different eras are aging and need access to veteran-centric palliative and hospice care.

“We love our veterans,” said Cami Leech Florio, Chief Strategic Officer. “They are a national treasure, and we are honored to support them while on our service, but also as a member of our community. Through community partnerships and fundraising initiatives, we are regularly creating opportunities to ensure they feel supported.”

In addition to culturally sensitive support while under St. Francis’ care, St. Francis also has various community initiatives for veterans, including its custom Wall of Honor ceremonies and an annual yard sign drive to raise awareness and funds of veterans’ needs.

St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care was founded in 1977 and licensed in 1990. St. Francis is Brevard’s longest-serving, not-for-profit, independent, interfaith provider of hospice, palliative care, and grief support services.
