BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Melbourne Police Department released a video to remind area residents to lock their vehicle doors to prevent having their personal belongings stolen.

The Melbourne Police Department is dedicated to the citizens of Melbourne and their quality of life.

Department personnel works closely with business partners, neighborhood watch groups, and community leaders in an effort to reach mutual goals and foster a strong, committed partnership.

The Melbourne Police Department relies on the help of citizens to prevent, stop and solve crimes.

Everyone is encouraged to help keep our community safe by reporting suspicious activity and by taking steps to ensure their safety.

Dial 911 in an emergency

If you see a traffic accident, a fight, somebody hurt, a fire, or a crime in progress, please call 911 immediately.

Use this number to report situations that don’t threaten life or safety (noisy parties, abandoned vehicles, or general concerns or complaints).

Melbourne Police Tip Line: 321-608-8477 (TIPS)

Call this line if you wish to leave information on a recorded line. You can remain anonymous, or you may leave your number if you want an officer to return your call. This tip line is for reporting of general criminal information where no immediate action is necessary. It is also for information to be used in building a criminal investigation case, for reports of suspicious activities, and for reporting crimes not-in-progress. The line can be used for reporting of narcotic-related tips, suspicious and/or drug-related activity, ongoing drug deals witnessed at a neighbor’s house, frequent coming and going of the same vehicles, etc.

If you wish to remain anonymous to report any crime (drugs, burglaries, robberies, homicides, wanted subjects, etc.), you can use the regional Crimeline 1-800-423-8477 (TIPS). Rewards of up to $1,000 are offered for information leading to an arrest. Rewards of up to $5,000 are offered for information leading to an arrest in homicides.
