Brevard Public Schools, Space Coast TPO Partner in ‘Walk to School Day’ On Oct. 6

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – On Wednesday, October 6, school children throughout Brevard County will join thousands across the world in celebrating International Walk to School Day. Brevard Public Schools and the Space Coast TPO have partnered together to participate in the International Walk to School Day for 21 years.
This year, students from over 22 different Brevard schools will be participating in this annual event alongside their peers, parents, teachers, and other school community members.
Walk to School Day events work to create safer routes for walking and bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion, concern for the environment, and building connections between families, schools, and the broader community.

MORE INFORMATION:
Palm Bay Elementary: The walking school bus will depart from Knect Park, escorted by Palm Bay Police Department. SCTPO staff will be onsite handing out goodies, and J Thrifty Speciality Produce will provide a light breakfast.
Roosevelt Elementary: This year’s Walk to School Day theme is “On the Road to Zero.” The day of celebration will begin at Tiny Turtle, with the city Mayor tagging along, who will then judge the safety-related poster contest.
