City of Melbourne’s Volunteer Board Members Celebrated During Reception at American Muscle Car Museum

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Citizens who serve as volunteer board members were honored for their years of service to the City of Melbourne during the City’s Annual Board Reception, which was held on October 19 at the American Muscle Car Museum.
The annual board reception provides an opportunity for the Mayor and City Council to recognize volunteer board members for their contributions to the city.
In 2021, approximately 131 members served on 17 committees that guide a range of city services from architectural standards and affordable housing to code enforcement and pension planning. Many of the city’s board members have served for multiple years — even decades.
Receiving special recognition at the reception were Charles Jackson, who was honored for his 45 years of service, and Randall Thron, who was honored for serving for 35 years.
The City has been hosting the board reception annually since 1999 as a way to formally recognize and show appreciation for its volunteer board members.
The following volunteers were recognized for reaching milestones of service in 2021:
