BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Leila Pope, a standout student in Heritage High School’s automotive program, has loved working on cars since she was young.

This summer, Leila had the opportunity to intern as a technician at a Brevard Public Schools bus garage.

She loved being able to get real-world experience and was so successful during her time that she was asked to return in the fall semester to participate in on-the-job training during her senior year.

Leila’s days are busy as she attends class at Heritage High School from first to third period, and then goes straight to work in the garage.

She says it’s challenging managing all of her responsibilities, but she is incredibly grateful to be gaining real experience and training while still in high school.
