A mechanical failure has prompted the closing of Mathers Bridge in Indian Harbour Beach to all boating traffic until further notice.

BREVARD COUNTY • INDIAN HARBOUR BEACH, FLORIDA – A mechanical failure has prompted the closing of Mathers Bridge in Indian Harbour Beach to all boating traffic until further notice.

The U.S. Coast Guard has been notified.

The bridge remains open for vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

The bridge swings open as many as 1,400 times a month for boating traffic and also caters to daily motoring traffic.

In late August, the bridge also suffered a power outage and required some maintenance work before it reopened in September.
