Pedestrian Killed After Hit-and-Run Crash in Cocoa near Clearlake Road

Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian Friday night that happened on Clearlake Road and Melrose Street in Cocoa.

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian Friday night that happened on Clearlake Road and Melrose Street in Cocoa.

Authorities identified the victim as a 55-year-old man.

The investigation reveals a vehicle driven by a 44-year-old Rockledge woman was traveling northbound on Clearlake Road around 8:10 p.m. when the pedestrian attempted to cross Clearlake Road but was struck by the vehicle.

The impact knocked the pedestrian to the pavement on Clearlake Road where a second vehicle struck the pedestrian and drove away from the scene without stopping, according to state troopers.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at Rockledge Hospital.

Investigators are attempting to identify and describe the second vehicle that left the crash scene.

The pedestrian was attempting to cross Clearlake Road in a non-cross walk area.
