POLICE: INCIDENT WAS 'tragic result of the mishandling of a firearm'

A Satellite Beach teen died Friday evening, October 8, of an apparent gunshot wound, according to Cocoa Beach Police Lt. Manny Hernandez.

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITEL BEACH, FLORIDA – A Satellite Beach teen died Friday evening, October 8, of an apparent gunshot wound, according to Cocoa Beach Police Lt. Manny Hernandez.

“Cocoa Beach police detectives, along with the Crime Scene Unit of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, spent the night investigating what appeared to be the tragic result of the mishandling of a firearm,” said Lt. Hernandez.

Lt. Hernandez said that officers initially responded to Cape Canaveral Hospital at about 11 p.m. regarding a patient with a gunshot wound, who has not yet been identified.

Further investigation led to 153 Cedar Avenue, unit B, in Cocoa Beach, where it is believed the incident
occurred.
