WATCH REPLAY: Brevard Public Schools Board Votes to Extend Mask Mandate for Students Under Age 12
policy now 'strongly recommends' students over age of 12, adult BPS employees to wear masks
WATC REPLAY: The Brevard County School Board voted during a meeting Tuesday night 3-2 to extend its mask mandate for students under the age of 12 for another 30 days while allowing medical exemptions and parental opt-outs.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County School Board voted during a meeting Tuesday night 3-2 to extend its mask mandate for students under the age of 12 for another 30 days while allowing medical exemptions and parental opt-outs for older students and adults.
The policy now strongly recommends students over the age of 12 and adult BPS employees to wear masks, but have no obligation to do so.
Voting for the updated mask mandate was BPS Board Chair Misty Belford and BPS Board Members Jennifer Jenkins and Cheryl McDougall. BPS BoardVice Chair Matt Susin and BPS Board Member Katye Campbell voted against continuing the mask mandate.
The meeting also discussed issues facing teachers and strategies for improvement, the superintendent’s report and various construction projects within BPS.
