Brevard Public Schools Makes Progress in Teachers Union Contract Talks

next contract talks are scheduled for November 15

Brevard Public Schools (BPS) held another round of contract negotiations with Brevard Federation of Teachers (BFT) union.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools (BPS) held another round of contract negotiations with Brevard Federation of Teachers (BFT) union.

During the session, BPS offered teachers a one-time $1,500 payment for their performance and dedication to our students.

The BPS compensation package being offered currently includes:

◾$1,500 one-time payment to teachers
◾$3.79m recurring payment to the health insurance trust fund to avoid healthcare premium increases
◾$6.2m one-time infusion payment to the health insurance trust fund to avoid healthcare premium increases
◾$1,000 supplement to teachers at schools with nine-hour days
◾Hourly rate of pay for Saturday training
◾$71,000 to maintain one salary schedule for teachers

In total, the compensation offered today by BPS comes out to $18.87m.

While no agreement has been reached, BPS is hopeful to have a deal completed soon.

The next contract talks are scheduled for November 15th.
